Located in Downtown Manhattan, SoHo is considered one of the main artistic centers in New York City. Named for the area “South of Houston Street”, this eclectic neighborhood was designated a historic district by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commision in 1973 and a historic landmark in 1978. SoHo has gradually developed into an area for artists to congregate, live and share their creations. The neighborhood also boasts designer shops, boutiques, and a diverse nightlife ranging from local pubs and lounges to elegant wine bars.

In terms of real estate, SoHo is famous for its many lofts with ornate cast-iron architecture, high ceilings and ample windows. These buildings date back to the 19th century, before steel became more prevalent in construction. Apartments, condos and co-ops are available as well.
